Drawing to reverse:
"In 1935/6, when Mahoney and Dunbar were perhaps at their closest, they agreed to make a quilt for Mahoney’s mother Bessie, at that time living in Anerley. The design was to be shared between them, the embroidery to be done by Dunbar. Several other designs and motifs exist. The present example and other similar designs might have been destined for this quilt. The present design is most certainly by Mahoney: Dunbar’s designs for this sort of thing tended to be more intricate and finely worked"
